St. Philomena School Spirit Week 2018

Thurs., May 24th: The Student Council will be sponsoring a Spirit Assembly at 2:05 PM to kick-off Spirit Week.

· Fine Arts Festival at 7:00 PM in the school hall. This event will showcase the wonderful musical abilities of our Advanced and Beginning Bands, the Middle School Choir, the Children’s Choir and 4th graders on recorders. Our Speech team will also present some of their speeches. The event starts at 7:00 PM in the parish hall. Since there is no school on Friday, May 25th, Purchase your SCIP and make it a family night out afterwards!! We will be selling SCRIP at the Fine Arts Festival.

Tues., May 29th: Celebrity or Favorite Character Day (as voted on by the students)

· Here is your chance to dress up as your favorite celebrity of your favorite movie, television or book character. Put together your best costume or wear a shirt with that person on it!! The stars will literally be shining on this day!

· The 4th grade students will be selling root beer floats at lunch for $1.00 a piece; all proceeds go to our sister school in Guatemala

Wed., May 30th Principal of the Day- John Bissett “Cultural/Ethnic Day”

· Students can dress up representing their culture or their ethnic background.

· Principal Bissett will be at morning carpool, handing out spirit prizes and going to Red Robin for lunch!

· Please join us at 1:15 PM for our annual Spelling Bee in the parish hall

Thurs., May 31st: Color Wars Day

· Each grade is assigned a different color, students are asked to dress up in their grades’ color; students can even dye their hair their grade color, but please do not use permanent dye.

PreK- red Kindergarten- orange 1st grade- pink 2nd grade- black

3rd grade- brown 4th grade- blue 5th grade- yellow 6th grade- purple

7th grade- green 8th grade white/all colors

· Bingo in the hall at 2:15 PM

Fri., June 1st: Hula/Hawaiian Day

· Break out your best and brightest Hawaiian shirt! Sun dresses are fine on this day only!

· After Mass, there will be the candle lighting ceremony for the 2018-2019 Student Council

· Luau Lunch for all students!

· The PreKindergarten will host the June Prayer Service at 2:05 PM in the church and the 5th graders will be presenting the annual state parade

Athletic shorts are allowed to be worn for Spirit Week, however students may not wear cut-offs, tank tops/spaghetti straps, mini-skirts, spandex type fashions. Shirts, sweatshirts and dresses must cover the shoulders. No exposure of the mid-drift. Sweatpants, this includes yoga pants, or any other types of sweatpants are not allowed. Tutus are not allowed at any time.
