Orientation Week

DATE: 8/31/20

Next week is Orientation week. The first thing that will need to occur is parents will have to come to school to get materials for their children to have at home for remote learning. Here are the times:

  • Pre-K: Monday, Aug. 31st 9:00 AM -3:00 PM

  • Kindergarten: Monday, Aug. 31st 9:00 AM -3:00 PM

  • 1st Grade: Monday, Aug. 31st 9:00 AM -3:00 PM

  • 2nd Grade: Wednesday, Sept. 2nd 3:00 PM 5:00 PM

  • 3rd Grade: Wednesday, Sept. 2nd 3:00 PM -5:00 PM

  • 4th Grade: Monday, Aug. 31st 9:00 AM -3:00 PM and Wednesday, Sept. 2nd 3:00 PM -5:00 PM

  • 5th Grade: Monday, Aug. 31st 9:00 AM -3:00 PM

  • Middle School: Monday, Aug. 31st 9:00 AM -8:00 PM

If you can’t come during the posted time, no worries, we are here all week and can help you and your child get their supplies. I will be here at school on both Monday 8/31 and Wednesday 9/2 until 8:00 PM for any parents that need to come in the evenings.

Some of the teachers will also be conducting online meetings with parents to introduce themselves and touch base. Some teachers will be doing meetings with students to get ready for remote learning. Look for emails from teachers! These meetings will happen between Monday, August 31st through Thursday, Sept. 3rd. Remote learning class that focuses on curriculum will begin on Wednesday, September 9th. There will be no class of any kind on Fri., Sept. 4th and Monday, Sept. 7th in honor of Labor Day.

If your family needs a ChromeBook to help with your remote learning, please email me, I will put you on the tech list and you will be able to pick up a ChromeBook during the orientation week.

We are also working on setting times for families/students to access the library and check-out library books. Families will be able to sign-up for a library time using an online format and then come to the library and check out books.

Remote learning schedules went home to all parents, please email your child’s teacher if you did not get a schedule. Teachers are including protocols for remote learning with their schedules. One protocol for all children will be that students will also be asked to come to class in either their school polo shirt (white, blue, green), St. Phil t-shirt, CYO t-shirt/sweatshirt or green hoody (middle school). We will also be selling the blue St. Phil t-shirts, during orientation week, they are $15.00 each.

Used uniforms will be available for purchase the week of August 31, during drive-thru pick up at the school. Please email Alisa at alisabmurray@gmail.com by Friday, August 28, with the items you want to purchase, how many of each, and what sizes. (Some items you request may not be available.) Alisa will assemble your order, and put it in a bag marked with your family's name, and the total cost. Please plan to pay for your order at pick-up, with a check made out to the school (write "Used Uniforms" on the memo), or cash in exact change. Alisa will contact you with your total before the 31st.

Father Woodland and I have approved a 25% tuition reduction. Our hope is that families that can financially pay their full tuition with no reduction, will please do so. We still need to pay salaries, benefits and have school expenses. Those families that are requesting the 25% tuition reduction will need to email Kara at kara@stphil.com and she will work with you to readjust your tuition commitment. You must email Kara before September 10, 2020 to be eligible. The tuition reduction is in effect only during remote learning. If there comes a point when we are back in an at school setting, we will remove the tuition reduction. Families that receive tuition assistance are not eligible for the 25% tuition reduction since you have already received a reduction.

Other financial obligations:

  • We are kicking off the Anchor Fund on October 1st, 2020. You will not be required to give a donation, but we will be highly encouraging families to give to the best of their ability

  • At this time SCRIP obligations are remaining in place and unchanged

  • We will address the Splash Auction requirement later in the fall when we hopefully will have additional information about the virus and where we are headed

  • At this time, parent commitment hours are on hold and we will see what happens later in the school year

We are trying to be very understanding and respectful of everyone’s financial circumstances, which we know are different for many of our families. Our goal is to continue to provide your children with a solid Catholic education and to continue to create a community that supports and uplifts your children and your family.
