Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament

TIME: 8:45AM
DATE: 9/30/22

As a school we attend Adoration about 4 times a year. What is Eucharistic Adoration? Perpetual Adoration is when the priest takes a consecrated host and places it in a monstrance, an ornate receptacle that holds and displays the consecrated host. The monstrance is then placed in front of the tabernacle or on the altar of the church or chapel for adoration. What do you actually do during adoration? During our St. Philomena Adoration services, our school community comes together in the church to “adore” Our Lord, exposed in the monstrance. We pray and listen to Father Woodland read a scripture and speak to us about the importance of the real presence of Jesus in our lives. We also sit and kneel in silence, simply keeping Jesus’ company and listening to His voice in our hearts, just as we would do with a dear friend. This is a prayerful and powerful opportunity for our students and staff!
