Scrip Family Requirements

Scrip Program

1. What is Scrip?

The word scrip is a noun referring to a form of payment issued by an organization and used to redeem a credit. Fittingly named, scrip simply refers to gift cards purchased from St. Philomena that can be used at various retailer stores.

2. How Does scrip Work?

We purchase gift cards at various discounted price determined by the retailer. These cards are then sold at face value. The difference between the amount we paid and the amount we sell it for is the funds we raised! This profit will be referred to as your “rebate earned”.

3. What items are available thru scrip?

We sell a wide variety of gift cards, from gas, groceries, department stores, retail stores, restaurants, movies, selected airline, hotel and car rentals.

Gift cards are available in several forms. There are actual physical cards as well as readily available electronic gift cards printed from your own computer or shown to the retailer from a smartphone. These are called Scripnow. Another electronic gift card is when a new amount is reloaded onto an existing physical card. These are called Reload/Reloadnow.

4. Where do the gift cards come from?

We purchase gift cards directly from local vendors and major retailers. However, most of the items come from a third party gift card company called Great Lakes Scrip (GLS).

5. What are the forms of Payment?

We take cash or check at this time. You can also set up a direct debit from your bank account. This form of payment is called Prestopay and is managed GLS.

6. Who is the contact person for the program?

The Scrip program is ran by a handful of parent volunteers called Scrip Chairs.

You can also contact us by emailing [email protected]. Parents are also welcome to volunteer during scrip sales days.

7. When Can I get Scrip?

Scrip sales is available all year round. During the school year, we sell on Monday, Wednesdays and Friday mornings  in the volunteer room inside the school.

Also during the school year, we sell on Sundays during the School Coffee and Donuts.

8. How do I register online?

For security purposes, the scrip coordinator will create your username. We only require your child’s full name and a valid email address. You can email this information to us. Once your account has been created, visit the website shopwithscrip.com, click forgot password. GLS will send you a temporary password. You can change the username and password if you like.

NOTE: Please do not create your own account. We do not give out the school enrollment code.

9. How much do I need to buy?

Each family is committed to raise $250.00 through the Scrip program. Just use gift cards for your everyday spending and you are already fundraising while you shop. Remember, participating in this program is at NO cost to you.

Once you reach $250.00, continue buying Scrip. Anything you earn beyond the $250.00 minimum will be split 50/50 between the school and your families’ tuition for the following school year.

10. When is the deadline?

The Scrip year is from June 1 to May 31. Anything you purchase from this time period will be added to determine how much rebate you earned or funds you raised. If you do not meet the $250.00 commitment, you will be billed the difference between $400.00 and the amount you reached.
